These guys are total jerks! You spend weeks on the internet searching for the most fantastic and unique car you could find, you took delivery of this dream purchase last week and now you've seen two cars just like yours in your subdivision! Fact or Fallacy? Fallacy... you have just experienced the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon, or Baader-Meinhof effect. Simply put, this phenomenon is when your awareness of something increases after you have changed your focus onto a new object or topic. It is a form of cognitive bias that falsely leads you to believe that frequency of an item has increased. In reality, that new car has been around for a long time, just suddenly because it is newly within your focus you become more aware of its presence. Just wait, you will notice this happening to you soon because you just learned about it! You're Welcome! Come back next week for my "Free Friday Fact or Fallacy" (F4) blog post. All my best, Dr. Misty R. Sharp Ladd, CPP, PCI, PSP
